What is your home state? If you plan to go to med school it might make sense to attend your state flagship school to save $ for med school. As far as I know med school admission is more dependent on your undergraduate grades and your MCAT. You might not want engineering since that may pull down your UG GPA.

Erin’s Dad is right…what is your home state?

For pre-med, you may be better off with your state flagship.

However, if you’re really affluent and money for undergrad and med school is not a problem, then you do have other choices.

as for engineering for pre-med. Erin’s Dad has a point. Some engineering students’ GPAs suffer with that major and that would be a negative for med schools.

However, that doesn’t have to be true. My son is pre-med and he’s a ChemE major…so far…straight As…and he now has senior standing. He chose ChemE as his major because he was told that med schools like that major (don’t know how true that is…LOL)

I also have 2 nephews who are pre-med and ChemE majors.
