Hi guys,

I want to begin writing my college essays; however, I simply don't know where to start. As in, I have absolutely no idea where to find what to write about, which prompts, what themes available...Can anyone here provide me a set of links or information as to what to write my essay on/about? Thanks.

Bump. Come on guys.

Where are you planning to apply to?

Bump, Ivies and UMIChigan, NYU, BU, Duke, Stanford, plus safeties

Yeah, I’m in the same proverbial boat… It seems reasonable that each university/college might have their own prompt, but I don’t think that’s the way it is.
So to summarize, I too have no idea where to start.

I also don’t know where to start. Please help us :(

Visit each school’s site. They will likely have either the prompts or the date when the prompts will be available. The common app prompts have remained the same for the past few years so you can pick one of those prompts and start writing.

Some schools have prompts that remain the same as well. A google search of your school and prompts can tell you if that’s the case.

It’s probably best to write the common app essay because this will probably be your most used essay.

OP don’t have too many reaches. And all the Ivies are very different. Don’t apply to schools just because of their prestige.

Just look at the Common App prompts, pick one, and dive in! I didn’t even outline mine, and I’m the most meticulous outliner in the world, my brain thinks in outlines lol. I just wanted to get SOMETHING down on paper and I want to have a couple decent essays to choose from eventually, although I’ve only written one so far.
