Hello, Im a second year community college student who will be transferring to a four year university in the fall, the question is which one? I know it sounds like a stupid question but I really cannot decide. Ive applied and been accepted to three schools; James Madison, UDEL, and TCNJ. I'm an international Business Major and I live in NJ. My personal choice is University of Delaware, however my parents are strongly pushing for TCNJ and are making it seem like I don't have a choice in the matter. Do I? Ive done my research and from what I found UDEL has the best business program, where as JMU is the better value. TCNJ doesnt even rank close for what I want to do but it is an outstanding college over all and has been called a public Ivy. My heart is telling me either JMU or UDEL, but am I better off at a lower cost in state college?

Are your parents willing to pay for the OOS college? Can you make up the difference? If not then you might just have to take the less expensive in-state school. Certainly you don’t want to come out of college with more than the Direct Loan total amount as debt ($27K total).

Go check them out. We took my son to both UD and TCNJ. Though TCNJ has a great reputation, our son wouldn’t get out of the car. We drove through campus in a matter of minutes. Very small and in the middle of nowhere. Don’t disregard it on our experience as I’m sure there are very happy students there. It all depends on what you are looking for in a school.
