James Madison University vs U of Delaware

I just got off the waitlist for james madison but before this ive decided on going to U of Delaware. I am a VA resident but costs aside (im paying full oos for delaware) i sorta want to know which school is better (in all aspects, academics, social life, blahblahblah) before i seriously consider whether or not i should take the jmu offer.

I am from New Jersey, so I have a bunch of friends at UDEL and only a few at J-Maddy. At of all honesty, I would go to James Madison. I chose Rutgers over JMU and UDEL because of instate tuition, but if I had to choose between JMU and UDEL I would go with JMU, especially since you are instate. I had an overnight at JMU and loved it. Its a pretty big school that has a small school feel within itself as I am sure you encountered. Plus, in my opinion the education at JMU might be better than UDEL. Either choice is a great one though!

My criteria on selecting my school came down to money. I am actually somewhat stable financially and money didn't initially affect my choice. But when it came to crunch time, I realized that the difference between UDEL JMAD Gettysburg and a few other schools educationally was not enough of a difference to spend 20k more a year than I needed too. So Rutgers it was.

I would go JMU as well unless there is something at UD that is special, say a unique program. Kids and families I know who have gone to JMU have all enjoyed it so much.

I think ima visit JMU over the weekend. My parents are actually encouraging me to goto Udel cause theyve never heard of JMU but i really have no idea until i visit (i have visited udel)

From what I hear JMU is great. People definitely know JMU in and around VA.

techboid: I think that is a really good idea to go take a look at JMU because I believe you might like JMU better than UDEL once you get a tour.

I have a daughter who attended Delaware as an OOS a few years back. She indeed had a very good experience and I would recommend it. But for the price though I'm with the other posters. Instate at JMU would be a steal compared to Delaware. Delaware is not that much better. Is there a program unique to Delaware that you are interested in?

I'm kind of surprised that you are a VA resident and your parents have not heard of JMU and you haven't visited. Without being too critical I wonder how complete and thorough your college search and application process was.
