So I posted in another forum regarding my chances of admissions to TAMU (my number one choice) but I was wondering where else compares?
I intend on being a biomedical engineering major and am not set on staying in Texas, however I do have only about $27,000/yr for four years so if any suggestions are out of state I'd need to be able to become instate after a year or so or receive some sort of financial aid!
Thanks(:

So you want to go to college for four years and only spend $6.5K/year? And you want us to suggest some schools to you but don’t understand how important your GPA, ACT/SAT, and SATIIs are to our ability to do this.

Help us out here, OP. We’ll also need what the net price calculators are saying about what TAMU and any other school will expect your family to pay.

Haha no I have $27k/ yr about $110k for all four years

okay, good. run the net price calculators for the schools on your list and tell us what the EFCs are for your family. Schools and EFCs. Any chance you could take the ACT?

That’s the problem
I don’t know what schools to put on my list

Bump(:

sorry, I misread that. how about an unweighted GPA? I’m looking for some reason to believe you would survive the BME curriculum, one of the tougher ones at any college.

The 3.88 is unweighted(:

oops, there it is. sorry again. that’s a hopeful sign. definitely take the ACT or re-take the SAT. I’m putting some schools together despite the imbalanced numbers. Hold on.

Thank you(:
It’s hard because my numbers are so imbalanced! When I retook the SAT I improved by over 200 points but I was really sick the first time I took it

So your numbers were lower the first time? Look at SUNY Stony Brook (SUNYs tend to be bargains for OOS students), Louisiana Tech, Arizona State, UAB, and Wright State U. I just picked those off the ABET accredited schools for BME.

Okay, this is a list for a BME would-be with 600M, 540CR, 3.88: ASU, Catholic, Iowa State, LSU, LT, Milwaukee, Miss State, NJIT, St. Louis U, UTN, UT Arlington, UAkron, UHouston, UIdaho, UKentucky, UMemphis, URI, USF, UToledo, Utah, Catholic, Lehigh, UA Birmingham, Western NE, Arizona, Central OK, UHartford, FIU, Florida Gulf Coast. I emphasized the standardized tests over the GPA just to be conservative.

When I say top 25% i’m saying top quarter… My exact percentile is like 15.7% I think…

You really need to try the ACT, OP, if you don’t like these matches because they’re not prestigious enough for you.

Not at all! A few of them I had talked about! You’ve been very helpful(: I signed up for the next two act’s last night(: thank you so much!

good for you! come back and let us know how you did on the ACTs.
