Where to transfer? Choices- UM Ann Arbor, IIT, UIUC

I'm finishing my sophmore year of architecture at a community college in Illinois. I have been accepted to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, IIT in Chicago and University of Illinois in Champaign- Versailles study abroad program.

Wherever I choose to transfer to I will be placed as a junior- so that isn't an issue.

I want to know which BA architecture program will best prepare me for a successful architecture career. Even if I go to IIT (a 5 year professional BA program) I would still like like to do a one year masters- I want to specialize in sustainable design and hopefully open my own firm in the future.

I know that studying abroad in Versailles would be an amazing opportunity but I really just want to make the choice that will best benefit my future career.

hey~ im a high school senior and I’m debating too whether or not to attend IIT. I want to major in engineering and was wondering how the school was like.

So for iit it doesn’t matter if your a transfer student a 5 yr program is always 5 years and their is no way you can graduate any earlier. So I would look into michigan or illinois to see if you can graduate in two years then you can get your masters in another two in comparison to getting your masters in 6 years if you went to iit. Also you will have about three years of internship before you can become a licensed architect.

and for engineering it’s a pretty decent school. I’d say it’s right after uofi but try getting into uofi. Your almost guaranteed a job out of that school.

I’m transferring to the UG Arch program@ UMich this summer! Since it’s a two year program, you won’t have to spend extra time on catching up with architecture studios, so that you can get your BS Arch degree in two years. After graduation, you can still decide what career you wanna go with. I visited the arch building last month and instantly fell in love. I’m not familiar with the other two programs though…are you sure that you can graduate in time?
