Where to transfer with a 3.4GPA(Computer Engineering)

I currently have 44 hours and a 3.4GPA and am looking to transfer to another school. At the end of this semester I will have 65 hours(Yes, I am enrolled in 21 hours at the moment) so my GPA should go up. I am trying to apply for Fall 2011. My school's CompE program is very lacking, and there is little to none research going on here. This combined with the fact that the career services at my school is useless, is forcing me to transfer. Please give me a list of schools with a good program in computer engineering where I would have a strong chance of getting in. My main concern is the job prospects after college so please list colleges that are very well known and where undergraduates typically don't have trouble finding a job. Thanks!

So far, I am applying to the University of Illinois @ Urbana Champaign.

Also, I have already taken most of the hard science and math classes for the program such as Physics, Chemistry, Calculus I, II, and III, and all of the programming courses I am required to take right now. Thanks again!

Take a look at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Purdue, and perhaps Rochester Institute of Technology. There are many other solid schools out there that would probably take you if you want to list locational preference as well as public/private and big/small school preferences I think it would help narrow down the search.

At this point with about a month left for most transfer deadlines I’d be open to just about any good engineering school in the top 20-30.

You probably already know the best known ones like MIT, CMU, Berkeley, Stanford, Illinois, Texas, Michigan, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin, Georgia Tech, Washington, North Carolina, etc.

A lesser known school is San Jose State University. It is right in the back yard of all of the computer companies in “Silicon Valley”, so the “Silicon Valley” companies are more likely to recruit there than at a non-local school that is not widely known nationally. UC Santa Cruz and UC Davis may gain some benefit from this as well, but they are not as close.

On the other hand, some of the application deadlines may have already passed.

Would I be able to get into the ANY of the aforementioned schools? I know all of the UC deadlines have already passed, and most of the other schools you listed have a deadline of March 15th. How good are my chances at Purdue or the University of Illinois?

Purdue is still a reach but possible. UIUC is out but you may be able to get in to another school in the University of Illinois system. The SJSU idea is solid as where you are matters as much as what you do.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Have you considered applying to transfer in winter quarter 2012 or spring semester 2012? That may allow consideration of more schools for which you can meet the application deadlines (including perhaps SJSU and UCSC).

I wanted to apply ASAP to somewhere well known and reputable. I want to go somewhere where I could get a better quality education. Id rather leave asap so if someone could list s college in the top thirty that I’d get into I’ll apply. Thanks.

Anyone? Any more suggestions?

Make note of schools for which you can apply for winter / spring 2012 if you do not get into any desired schools for fall 2011. And don’t miss any more deadlines.
