Hi! Im a current sophomore here at Marist College, in Poughkeepsie NY. Your highschool stats sound very similar to mine actually! I had a 94 GPA in high school and took AP classes as well (Calculus, English, and Psychology). I participated in several clubs but not many sports, which is a strong aspect you have on your application. My SATS were around a 1900, but I know many friends here who had lower scores than me. A big thing to keep in mind about Marist, and other schools as well if you research them, is that Marist is SAT optional- meaning it is not mandatory to show your SAT scores. So if you feel your SAT scores will only hurt your application, you still have a great chance of getting in without them. I think you have a very good chance at Marist, it may be just right for you. Hope this helps!! if you have any more questions you can contact admissions at admission@marist.edu

Hey, I am a current fashion merchandise student at Marist College. I was very involved in high school as well, and that’s one of the reason I came to Marist. I am a member of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority, Student Government, Habitat for Humanity, St Jude, Fashion Inc, Visual Merchandise Club, and many more. One of the main reasons I came to Marist is because SAT scores are optional, I had a good GPA in high school so I decided not to submit my SAT scores. I am pretty sure that Marist is the place for you. Best of luck, I hope this helped! If you have any more questions feel free to contact admissions! Email: admission@marist.edu, Phone: (845) 575-3226 and/or (800) 436-5483

Hi! It sounds like you are a very motivated student and would do fantastically at any one of those schools. I am a sophomore at Marist, studying English and Philosophy. I have a few friends that attend SUNY Geneseo, Siena, and Gettysburg and I know they have a great time both socially and academically. The good thing about these smaller schools revolves around the opportunity allowing the cultivation of meaningful relationships between teachers and students, creating means for successful personal growth.

To be honest I think any one of those schools would be lucky to have you, as an athlete and clearly a student showing much promise, it seems like you take your education very seriously. However, I wouldn’t worry about your “chances,” no matter what the school you end up attending, that school will be the place you were meant to be and that’s a fact. In high school I took AP World, AP US History, and AP English as well and always felt pressured that I wasn’t doing enough. I volunteered every weekend, played soccer, rode horses, and scored highly on my ACTs, all the while worrying that I wasn’t “doing enough” to attract the selective eye of college admissions counsellors. But in the end, it turned out all the stress was for naught. You will find you are going above and beyond the expectations of others and you should be proud with the schools you end up getting into! Seriously don’t sweat it, mark my words come spring you will have found the college of your dreams!

thank you all so much!!

You probably don’t have a good chance for great schools. Your AP number is pretty low compared to most high-achieving students. Your extracurriculars are very low. I don’t that that much about those schools though.

You will probably be able to get into UVM because I applied ea oos with my first SAT score of 1840, 5 aps, and a similar amount of extra curriculars that were non athletic, and I was accepted. Gettysburg has higher SAT expectations than UVM but they are also optional, and I know they really value athletes. I do not know enough to speak on any of the other schools.

You can also check out Dickinson, Franklin & Marshall, Pitt, Drexel, and Muhlenburg. The College Board has a great college search tool where you fill out your SAT scores, sports your interested in, and college preferences, and it will give you a huge list of schools that you can use to do research.

This guy is doing great at this point; s/he’s only a Junior. S/he could potentially take more AP classes in Senior year.

If possible, improve that SAT (maybe try ACT), and definitely take more AP classes next year. Good luck!

Gettysburg is a reach unless you can bring your UW to 94-95+2000SAT; Marist, Clark, and Geneseo would depend on SAT scores (if 1800: high match; if 2000: low match to safeties); Siena and UVM are safeties as long as you apply EA.
I second the idea of applying to Dickinson, F&M, and Muhlenberg.
