Cornell
Northwestern
Rice
UChicago
WashU

I was accepted at Rice, Northwestern, and Wash U, and out of those three, I would have chosen Rice. Northwestern would have been a close second mostly due to the higher price. In order of my preference, I would rank them:

Rice
Northwestern
Wash U
UChicago
Cornell (last mostly just because of location)

uchicago, im not an engineer, though this person clearly is

so far Cornell 7, Chicago 5, NW 5, Rice 1.

directions, I believe the OP is trying to decide whether to transfer out of Cornell, and to where (hope that's ok bball but it's out there not hard to find) given his choices.

All 5 including Cornell are basically overall similar for academic reputation, or close enough, and all 4 transfer options are in or near major cities unlike Cornell so that's a wash.

My thought was Cornell, WashU, Rice, NW have fairly large preprofessional student bodies, business and the sciences/engineering are strong. Chicago's rep is more learning for the sake of learning (core if they still have that, almost like a big LAC??) without a defined career goal in mind. Of course there are lots of exceptions but Chicago seems different in that way. At least that's my perception. Whether that's appealing to the OP or not I'm not sure.

Considering they are all on my list:
1. U Chicago
2. Cornell
3. Northwestern
4. Rice
5. WUSTL
prosepctive math major

Northwestern

Cornell

UChicago

WUSTL

Rice

If you want to study economics:
1. UChicago
2. Northwestern
3. Cornell
4-5. WUSTL, Rice

But taking into consideration all the aspects of a "full" college experience, I would choose NU over Chicago even if I wanted to study economics. Chicago is better in economics, but the disparity is not that big.

1) Northwestern
2) U Chicago
3) Wash U
4) Cornell
5) Rice

why is Rice and Wash U getting no hits?

Damn why is Rice getting owned?

Rice
Cornell
Northwestern
Chicago
Wash U

I say this having been accepted to Rice and Cornell.

University of Chicago

Northwestern University
GAP

Cornell University
GAP

Rice University
BIG GAP

Washington University (St. Louis)

I'm planning on econ/finance and psychology.

Northwestern by FAR. Best combo. of everything I want in a school.

Economics/Overall

UChicago

Cornell/Northwestern

Rice

WUSTL

Chicago becuase they are strong in my majors (english + philosophy) and the student body isn't all crazy about their athletics teams

Northwestern or Cornell

I've spoken to bball privately, and I've told him I don't see why anyone would leave Cornell for those other colleges. It has the best mix of academics and social life by a large margin (not to mention an amazingly accomplished and connected alumni base). I could see a LAC being a possible option if he wants a much smaller school that's less research oriented, but none of those other colleges qualify as such.

1-WashU
2-University of chicago
3-rice
4-Northwestern
5-Cornell

1) Northwestern
2) Cornell
3) Rice
4) UChicago
5) WUSTL

Cornell

UChicago

Northwestern

Rice

WashU

Speaking as someone has already been through the admissions process, done detailed research on many of those schools, and my brother and I actually having the choice of attending most of the above schools, along with many NU vs UC tournaments occurring at my IL high school, this is how I rank their desirability:

Undergrad:
1. Northwestern/ Rice
3. UChicago --> good majority chose NU over UC, but top academics
4. Cornell
5. WUSTL

*Unlike most of the posters on this board, I am not a wimsically-ranking high school student who overblows Cornell because its an ivy.

*also, I do not rate a school such as Rice last simply because I have never heard of it before/ know very little about it.

*I don't rate WUSTL last because of its embrassing demonstrated interest/ yield manipulation procedures. However, in this case, the other schools simply offer more.

That's a tough decision. Cornell, Chicago and Northwestern are equals, but completely different. I'd personally chose Cornell or Chicago, but it would be a hard decision. Rice is also awesome, and WUSTL is also ok, though not quite as good.
