My mom’s down with whatever I wanna do, from a top uni to a community college. She knows ill make the choice that id think will be best for me 8)

My mother wanted me to go to a Community College so that I had to live at home.

… No.

My parents are pretty good about it.
but my grandparents live fifteen minutes away from an ivy, so every trip they say “maybe you should consider Ivy U, right? right?”

My mother doesn’t seem to care at all. We are currently debating on my safety school though lol.

My parents really wanted me to apply ED to Columbia, because my dad went there and thus they have a slightly inflated perspective on how prestigious it is. I also live in NYC currently about 30 blocks away from Columbia, and I have a feeling part of their desire for me to go there came from a unconscious (or conscious) desire for me to be close to home so they can see me more/know I’m nearby.

But I decided I did not want to live in the city for four more years and decided to apply ED to Brown. Obviously, they are not “disappointed” considering Brown is Ivy league, one of the best schools in the country, and were very supportive of my decision, but I can’t help shake the feeling that, deep down, they really would have preferred I’d applied to Columbia.
