Hey, everybody! I’m want to become a doctor, so I’m trying to figure out which service academy is best for me. Someone told me I should look at the Naval Academy because of Bethesda Hospital. But I was looking at the majors they have to offer and I would have to major in chemistry. My dad is a doctor and he said that sure would be a TON of chemistry for doctor to learn. West Point also only offers chemistry, but I don’t know what kind of hospitals and other things they could offer. I know USAFA also has a biology major, which I think I would be more interested in, but I don’t know what kind of hospitals and other stuff they could offer. What do you guys think?

My sister is a sophomore in HS and wondering the same thing. I TOLD her USAFA (b/c that's where I'll be...) but it's probably better for her to go where she has a better shot at becoming a doctor (I've heard it was pretty rare from USAFA).

Getting med school slots out of the academies is very difficult because you have to be in the top percentiles of your class to be able to get directly into any med school. The academies are only allocated a limited number of slots that their recent grads can take to med school. Not saying it is impossible, but just very difficult. Perhaps if you have your heart set on becoming a doctor, not necessarily an officer, you should look at civilian rather than military schools...?

Not to long ago the number 1 major was biology. Because so many cadets wanted to become doctors. At one point a sup. a few years back didn't want anyone going to graduate school. He wanted everyone to be "warriors" learn the job that they were assigned. Then go to school after they had proven themselves.

In reality, if you want to be doctor in the Air Force. Go to a civilian school get your BS and then Medical School under the program that pays for your schooling with service on active duty in return.
