I'm filling out the common app and have 7 spaces for ECs. There are 3 I have leadership positions in, one I played varsity on, and one where I've volunteered many hours. I have two spaces left and three less major activities. The first is that after winning our fall speaking contest, I was master of ceremonies at many of them and helped organize speakers and acting in skits for them all. The second is Student Senate, where I didn't do anything too major besides getting elected into it. The third is Model UN, where I was a delegate but again didn't win any awards or make any major contributions. However, I did Model UN from 10th to 12th grade, whereas I only was elected into Student Senate during 9th and 10th. Which of these ECs should I mention as my other two on the common app? I know I could extend it into Additional Information, but I thinking I'm going to use the additional space to talk about my summer activities and classes I couldn't take due to scheduling and when they were offered. Thank you for any advice!

Definitely include the first one activity. About that second slot…that’s tough. I would say Model UN because it was more recent, but then again Student Senate you’re elected to. Although, actually, I would go with Model UN because, don’t take any offense to this, it’s how it is in our school, people elected to serve on those things are just the most popular, they don’t actually do anything. So yeah, Master of Ceremonies and Model UN. Cheers!
