Just as the title of this post says, I’m wondering if there are any ap classes that are a lot of work to take when taking them at the same time.
I’m gonna be a junior this year and I am signed up for AP calc ab, APUSH, AP English, AP Chem, and AP Spanish. I am wondering if I should take AP CS since the teacher is supposed to be good.
I’ve heard that calc, US, and Chem are deadly classes. I don’t want to drop down to lower levels since I took honors classes for all of these classes.
I am thinking if I should take honors US or English instead to save time so I don’t crash lol. I’m not great with time management.
Any advice on the rigor of these classes and taking them at the same time? Also any tips for junior year when it comes to balancing these types of courses?
The only combination I caution against is chem and bio. The rigor of the course combined with the time required for labs make them deadly together, IMO.
That said, some APs are more work than others. But part of that is also up to the teacher. APUSH, AP Lang, and AP Chem will all generally require a fai amount of time, but they are certainly not unmanageable.
One thing to keep in mind is that you are likely still taking SAT/ACT tests, which may involve some preparation. So 5 AP classes together might be a bit much, and I certainly would not suggest a sixth.
Calc to me was easier than what most people told me. AP Lang kicked my butt. My only advice is make sure you have AP classes senior year, one of my friends ran out of AP classes to take senior year and that was probably one of the main reason he did’t get accepted into a school like Stanford…
