I am currently attending a community college and once i am done with that i will be transferring to a university and then attending law school. As of now, my major is “Liberal arts” but i feel as if that’s a useless associates degree and will not help me prepare for university. I have been thinking of getting an associates degree in criminal justice and then a bachelors in Psychology. I need some advice on what i should do.
Any degree is fine. What you want to be looking for is a major that calls for critical reading and rigorous analysis. There are some majors that could lead to specialties as a lawyer, but that’s not really relevant to law school. I was a psych major. I have had clerks who majored in classics, comparative literature, linguistics, you name it. Major in something that interests you so that you will do well. That sets you up for a good law school and prepares you to succeed there as well.
Since half of your bachelors is going to be liberal arts, there is nothing wrong in keeping the liberal arts major. If it teaches you to read critically and write cogently, then it is all good.
Be aware the job market for law graduates is pretty bleak.
