Do you think it is easier to get into CSOM or the College of Arts and Sciences??

A&S easier by far. CSOM is like the holy grail. There are a bunch of threads on this topic in here, with details on % accepted, etc..

Nursing if you're a guy lol.

holy grail?? call me slow but i don't understand th. at term lol. gosh i applied to carroll. hope it's not that bad

When you apply to Boston College, you're not applying to Boston College itself, but to the different schools at BC (Arts and Sciences, School of Management, School of Nursing, and School of Education). As with every program, there are going to be people more attracted to one more so than the other, a simple case of supply and demand.

When more people want to apply to say the School of Management, demand increases, while the supply (number of seats) remains the same. Basically, the acceptance rate at the school of management is higher than any of the other 3 schools simply because there is a higher demand for entrance to the particular school.

School of education seems to be pretty easy . This year 3 kids from my school got in who did not have impressive stats at all. Looks like a 28 ACT and 90 average are good enough for School of Education.

Did all 3 have a 28 ACT? Are any/all of them recruited athletes or legacies?

Nothing is easy. If you are a guy, here is the order

School of Nursing

School of Education

College of Arts & Sciences

School of Management

Tim Russert graduated from John Carroll, so it cant be that bad. They are also very generous with the money. I got my acceptance from John Carroll this week with 20,000/year. It is my safety school but if it is the only school I get into I wont be upset.

^^This is a Boston College thread and these posts are talking about BC’s Carroll School of Management (CSOM) – not John Carroll University.

LOL, I thought the post was referring that they applied to John Carrol and they hoped it wasn’t that bad. my mistake. lol.

A student at my school was rejected as a business major at Penn State and Geneseo but accepted to BC early action as an education major with a 28 ACT. She thinks she will be able to transfer to the business school at BC, but I heard that is difficult to do. Two others both got into the school of education at BC with 28 ACT. School of education is definately easier than the rest.

Lizzy, make sure your friend understands that it is not easy to transfer into CSOM from another school within BC. It is possible – but definitely not easy to do. This issue came up on CC not too long ago:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/boston-college/641123-why-bc-so-stubbron-transferring-within-school.html

Yes, worried_mom is entirely correct. CSOM is already past capacity to there is little to no room to add more students. The only room CSOM has at the end of the year come from those who transfer out of CSOM into another school or transfer out of BC entirely, which are few and far between. I know of one person who transferred into CSOM who had a 3.8 when he transferred, which is essentially 2 x A and 3 X A-, something that is hard to achieve.

thanks! i appreciate it
