which bio major should I undertake?

I am registered as a BS Bio Major (Microbiology & Biotech option).

I still want to be a biology major, but I am not too keen on the reqs of my major/option.

I hope to work in public health/epidemiology or maybe something similar, so microbiology seemed like a good option. But the reqs are overwhelming, especially considering some of the classes I want to take.

My current major requires: 2 physics classes, 4 chemistry classes (a mixture of general chem, organic chem, and biochem)

I am considering switching to a non-comprehensive bio major. It has the same physics requirement, but only has two required chemistry classes (organic chem). I also need a minor.

Which would be the better option, you think?

Any current bio majors who can give me some insight?

The first option sounds pretty typical of most bio majors. Are you sure the 2nd option doesn’t requre gen chem? Organic chem assumes knowledge of A LOT of gen chem, so you might wanna check that out.
