I am in 8th grade applying for 9th grade. I have looked at a lot of schools online. My top four choices are The Westminster School (CT), The Gunnery (CT), Thomas Jefferson School (MO), and The Putney School (VT). I have all A's except 1 B in math this year. I have yet to take the SSAT, but I have taken the PSAT and my score was around 177. I have no legacies anywhere (unless I choose to fo to school in Israel). I want to go to a small school, 500 at max. Academics are big for me as well as Cello. I am in Marketing Club, EnvironmentalClub, Cello Choir, School Orchestra, and a Youth Orchestra. I need to choose three schools to apply for. What I don't want is to be at a very "preppy" type school with a lot of discrimination, especially due to background. I have a very bad experiences with bullying in the past. The schools cannot have any religious affiliations (unless Judaic). I only want to apply to schools that I have a good chance to get into. I need advice on which three schools to apply to, so I can submit my application soon. Also, I go to public school (my school has better test scores than private schools) and the district doesn't allow teachers to give recommendations. I write very good essays. I don't need any financial aid. If you have any recommendations of schools, feel free to suggest them. Thank you in advance.

It sounds like you have a good chance for those schools. My one other comment is that if you don’t want a very preppy school, I suggest you rule out The Gunnery. I have very close friends and family there and they say it is super preppy. So preppy, that one even switched schools.

Thanks for your insight mmpqu2. People in my area don’t tend to go to boarding schools. About The Gunnery, is it "preppy is as in elitist?

I am also consideringThe Masters School.
