Which book for SAT 1 preparation?

can anyone suggest any book other than the blue book for SAT 1 . i really need to work on critical reading and writing . pls suggest .

barrons or princeton .

i heard that princeton and kaplan were good, but im not sure. lol can anyone help?

Kaplan was good. There are lousy questions in there, but generally the explanations are very helpful. I hated Princeton Review's book, I did two sections then I tossed it.

what about the collegeboard's study guide? have they released a new "10 real SAT's?? if they have, is that a good book to get? or is the princeton's 11 practice tests better? also, is barrons good for writing and critical reading? and for vocab, is wordsmart a good choice? thanks

I didn't like Kaplans at all.
I hadn't heard about anything new from the collegeboard, but it is possible.

you really don't need to spend 15 bucks on kaplan. I'll tell you right now, Kaplan suggests you read the paragraph and scribble a little note to paraphrase it. Period.

Get either Princeton Review or Rocket Review, and the collegeboard blue book. Also get the 10collegeboard red book. Oh, as much as i hate kaplan, i've heard the written workbook by kaplan is actually highly regarded.

lol, instead of 15, make it 32

oh yeah, what is the latest version of collegeboard's 10 real SAT's red book? cuz i only can find 2005, and that doesnt include the writing portion

Noooo I meant Kaplan's 12 Practice Tests. Those don't make you scribble little notes.

Princeton Review's tests are the best ones outside of the CB tests. Get the "11 practice tests" book if you only want practice tests. They're great. Altho the Cracking the SAT book has good tips for verbal, so that might be worth getting too.

Kaplans practice tests aren't particularily similar to the real test.

I'll need a little help before my answer can help the OP- which company makes those large flashcards with a word on the front, then a picture on the back with some sentence using the vocab word broken up into different words to explain what the word means?

Whatever that company is, the cards are very chessy- but I went through them time and time again and A LOT of the words showed up on my PSAT. If someone can tell you what company makes those cards, I would highly recommend getting them. I think it may be Kaplan.

PR picture word smart???

barrons and princeton are good, pr is very easy and very less time consuming. collegeboard's blue book is good for practice tests and so is the red book but that one doesn't have a writing section

BBB (big blue book)

The Blue Book is written by the test makers, so it should be the most helpful.

I don't prefer Kaplan either. I'd also go w/ BB, CB online (not a book, but if one can afford it, that'll be a great prep), PR and Barrons. (RR might work as well). Baron's math work book is great. PR 11 Practice Tests is not bad either.
