Which book is best for AP US History

Which book is best. My teacher recommended Barron's, but many of my friends who have taken the test already recommended Kaplan's or Princeton Review. Tell me which book(s) is the best and why.
Thx

try the REA

avoid Barron's...it's very bad in history, trust my judgement

I never had the best brain for history, so I had to study a lot for AP US. I used a combination of review books and textbooks (crazy i know)

REA: Was good for facts and statistics. Very dry reading. Make this your second choice book if you can only get 1.
Princeton Review: Is really really good for the big picture. I loved it. 1st choice

I also bought a different textbook--the bailey one i thing, or whatever the famous one is. I did this because my text was horrible and poorly written. YOu might not need to do this.

The AMSCO book is awesome for the APUSH test. It's only avaliable to teachers/schools, so my APUSH teacher did a class order and most people ended up with 4's or 5's. You might be able to find a copy through some used book sites or stores.

AMSCO, hands down. I had Barrons and Rea as well, but AMSCO was by far the best one.

I never saw the AMSCO one, so I probably can't too helpful. However, I did buy the REA one and read through it several times, and in the end, the AP US test was one of the easiest tests I've ever taken - I got a 5 without a problem. If you aren't a fast reader or don't want to spend much time memorizing, the REA one, which is generally information-based, probably isn't the best. But otherwise, it's great.

REA, definitely.

I agree with the poster who said Barrons is bad, because it is. It's terrible. I'd highly suggest REA, which is also good for the SAT 2s.

I have the REA US history builder. Do those of you who have already used it recommend reading through each section and taking notes to be reviewed everyday or just reading through it and rereading it?

I don't have experience with actual prep books, but I've been reading Don't Know Much About History in the bathroom and I've been very pleased with it so far. Why not kill two birds with one stone?

I just read through it - many times.

AMSCO is really good. Try to order it through your school.

when i bought my apush book over the summer, i went to b&n and looked through the formats of all the books. REA definitely seems to be the best one, it gives you all the neccessary details, gets straight to the point, and doesn't load you with any extra stuff you don't need.

I used REA I liked it quite a bit.
