I was wondering who has the best coverage at UIUC. When I visited my sprinit phone seemed to be getting a good reception, but I wasn't looking at the signal all the time so I'm not sure.

Current Students:

Which cell phone carrier(s) would you recommend based on
coverage and call quality at UIUC (Rank them possibly):

Verizon
At&t
T-mobile
Sprint

I get basically perfect coverage from AT&T. They have a tower about half a mile west of campus.

Fine. I always have service. (Verizon)

Does anybody know how well SPRINT works on campus. Do you get excellent coverage or not?

I had sprint my freshman year, and the coverage was pretty poor. I would have a half bars most of the time, but there were places on campus where there was NO coverage, and forget about talking inside of buildings, because the Sprint signal didn’t make it inside most of the time. They might have fixed that, though.

Anyone know about tmobile?

I’ve lived in Champaign for 15 years and majority of people (including me) get verizon.

My girlfriend has T-Mobile, and it seems to do fine for her.

does champaign area use GSM-850 band/frequency?

I think its well established that AT&T and Verizon provide excellent or near excellent coverage beucase they’re eveywhere.

But they are expensive.

I would like to know whether SPRINT’S coverage around campus has been fixed, and whether they have good service?

And, whether T-Mobile actually gets good coverage and service there too?
