Wireless Service on campus / in neighborhood

A question for those currently or recently on campus. According to the website RootMetrics, cell coverage is best with Verizon, good with TMobile except for area toward lake, along S. Cornell Dr (so fine on campus), poor in areas of north campus with AT&T, and spotty with Sprint. Based on this, I am considering Verizon or TMobile. Can anyone speak to their experience with cell and data service with these (or other) providers? Thanks!

News to me lol. I use sprint (via boost b/c I hate data caps and contracts) and I have gotten nothing less than 4G LTE anywhere in the city of Chicago, including along the lake.

We had ATT when my son started and then switched to T-Mobile and have had great coverage on campus with both. There were a few buildings on campus where cell signal didn’t seem to penetrate well in certain rooms for either service but T-Mobile routes over wifi when that happens so no lapses now.

My kids had T-Mobile, and one or the other of them lived on South Cornell for over four years. I don’t think either of them ever had a coverage issue, nor did I when I visited them.

Thank you everyone! So glad I asked because it’s not clear how current RootMetrics data may be.

@acdchai - how was AT&T service? Did you switch because it was spotty on campus or around Hyde Park? They actually have an enticing phone offer right now …

@BonaMaterFiliae We switched to T-Mobile because we got significantly more data from them than ATT for the same price plus we got a great deal on new phones for switching. Switching every few years is probably the best bet now with companies doing more for their new customers than old.
