I'm in a little predicament. I went to round up and talked to my counselor and she said that I have to decide to take out either AP physics or Spanish 3 honors in order to fit AP calculus in. I am trying to go to USC so if anyone could give me some advice on what I should do and which class to drop. Thanks, much appreciated.

Unless you have an interest in Spanish, I would say drop it. Even if you are a junior or younger, AP Spanish (if you got to it) is VERY hard to get a 5 on. And physics is a science so it may look a bit better.

Ok the thing is that there is only one teacher that teaches AP physics and isn’t very good and no one passes the AP test, but its an easy A. For Spanish 3 honors though its is recommended that you should take 3 years of a foreign language, if I’m not mistaken.

May I ask what grade you entering?

Senior year.

It’s a tough call, mainly up to which class you prefer. If you think you could get an A in AP Physics, I would take it. Even though it would be another year of a foreign language, its just Honors Spanish 3, and AP Physics would look so much better IMO. 4 years of a foreign language isn’t a requirement, but it can’t hurt; unfortunately it comes down to that or AP Physics and I think that would look better to colleges, especially if you are majoring in Math or Sciences. Plus, because you said everyone did bad on the exam, the colleges wouldn’t see your score, because you already would’ve sent your app in. They would just see the grade you have in class because the scores don’t come out until July I believe.

You could check if any of those subjects are offered at a cc near you (although no GPA bonus like honors/APs), but if you don’t want to do that then I would question if you have another science you are taking this year or how many you have in high school? If you’re a rising junior then I’d say take classes next summer for sure, but if not then I couldn’t really give sound advice- they are both valuable and I don’t know which is definitively better.

Ok but what if I take a physics class at my community college during the spring semester. Would that be the same as taking AP physics? Also the requirement is for 2 years of foreign language and 3 recommended for university.

Well I have already done biology chemistry and normal physics. So I’ve done 3years of science and I 4 years of math so far cause I took a math class at the college.

What should I do!!! I’m stressing out!!

Definitely Honors Spanish 3. You’ve already taken Physics so AP isn’t totally necessary unless you want to be an Engineer or something. Besides, three years of Science should be enough. You could use a third year of foreign language to balance your schedule.

The thing is I do want to major in either mathematics or science but I don’t want to hurt my chances at a university if I don’t have the recommended 3 years of foreign language.
