Which classes to take!?

Hi all,

I'm currently a 10th grader and I was wondering what all of you thought about the classes I will be taking for my 11th grade year, I also had a few questions regarding them

AP US History
AP Language and Composition
AP Statistics
Pre-Calculus Accelerated
Band
Spanish 4 Accelerated
Physical Education (Required)
AP Physics B

Okay so the questions I have:

AP Physics B also needs some form of Calculus background, will I be okay taking that class as long as I take Pre-Calc as well?

I really want to take AP Statistics, and taking a double period AP Science would not allow me to do so. Am I wrong in not taking this path?

I'm currently taking Science Research 1 and Science Research 2 and 3 are also available at my school, do you think not taking Research 2 and 3 will be a red flag to colleges?

Thanks for all your input!

Precalc is fine

Physics > statistics

As long as everything else is good, it wont matter too much

AP Physics B is Algebra-based. Physics C is the calculus-based one. Is physics B double period at your school? It’s not very hard so for it to be double period is stupid. Are you sure it’s not Physics C instead of Physics B?

Either way, at my school they go over what calculus you need for the class in the class, but they want kids to also be enrolled in calculus for that class. That’s for Physics C.

Most schools don’t have anything like “Science Research” but honestly, at the high school level it just sounds like a blow-off class for people who aren’t taking real science classes. If you’re replacing it with an AP class that’s probably best.

As for Stats, don’t get to excited to take it. It’s Algebra-based and if you plan on doing something where you need statistics in college, you’ll probably need a Calc-based stats.

If it’s between Physics B and Stats I would recommend Physics.

ok so i’m a current junior and i definately don’t think you should take ap physics unless you’re REALLY good in math and/ took honors physics!!! and AP U.S. History and AP LA are great choices since those are basic courses need for general education in most colleges.
if Statistics can’t satisfy the general education requirements for the college you plan to go to don’t waste your time in it

band may be the only class on that list you will remember fondly

i have a friend and marching band changed his life

plus you look so cool in parades and stuff

AP Statistics is mind-blowingly boring
i didn’t know what it meant to be bored
until a third of the way through that AP test
i wanted to run
run run

physics b can be taken concurrently with precalculus but only if you know precalculus before you take it. and best ofall it will provide a lot of motivation for you to learn precalculus.

It also depends on how good of a teacher you have
in both physics and math
otherwise vectors might confuse you
