Hello CC,

This is my first thread here, but I've been visiting here for a awhile now for good information.

Well anyways, currently I'm a Sophomore in my highschool and it's time for Junior year class registration!
I have been contemplating what classes to take for the past week and have decided on these:

Already-Decided-On Classes:
1. AP Language/English
2. AP Calculus AB
3. AP Art History (requirement for my magnet program)
4. AP US History
5. Japanese III

Now the question is for my Science class and my other Electives class, I'm basically wondering...

1) AP Biology vs AP Chemistry. I equally like/dislike both, but mostly I am wondering which one is more work/hw? Both the teachers are also great teachers.

2) ...and for the Elective, should I take a "free" class (minimal work) to kind of balance my day, or should I go for Physics Honors? I do plan on taking AP Physics in 12th grade so it's either "Take Physics to be prepared for AP Phys" or "Just take a free class & jump into AP".

Thanks for your input and opinions,
Ricky

If your a math person or not, definitely take Physics. ESPECIALLY if you plan to take ap physics C. Physics B does not require as much mastery of the concepts so you can do very well without taking introductory physics.

If you’re a math person then taking physics will allow you to boost your gpa because, for the most part, physics is simply applying basic formulas in certain situations.

If you’re not a math person then you will learn the concepts that will help you succeed in ap physics.

Personally, either way i think its a good idea to take. Better strength of schedule and more prepared for senior year

AP Biology is just a lot of memorization. Not too bad, but if you can’t memorize a lot of terms then go with physics.

Is Physics Honors “easy” enough (capable to handle) if I take it with AP Chemistry + 4 other AP classes? I’m afraid of my grades dropping b/c I’m taking too many rigorous courses.

EDIT: Yes, I am good at math. I’m maintaining a 95% average in PreCalculus since the start of this year.

Physics isn’t too bad I took it my sophomore year without pre-cal or chem and still had a B+, after pre-cal I’m sure it would be even easier…it really depends on if you have a good physics teacher, mine was bad so it was mostly self teaching for me. I’m currently takin ap cal ab and it isn’t too bad, ap eng lang is easy, I took apush last semester and worked my a** off for a b+/a-(B+ final, highest avg. in the class). Can’t tell you about ap art history (except I wish my school had it!) nor japanese, cool school!

what about AP Chemistry?

That’s nice to know that Phys is relatively easy…

I can tell you though, from talking with Juniors that AP Art History is really really hard - lots of specifics into each and every piece of art we learn.

Japanese is okay, but still a challenge, especially next year.
