Which college for aerospace engineering?

My daughter originally wanted to major in chemical engineering but has changed her mind to aerospace engineering. She was accepted into some schools that had aerospace engineering too:
Arizona State University, University of Minnesota, North Carolina State and Embry-Riddle.
She also got in Colorado School of Mines and Northeastern, her favorite of the group is Mines.

I think for aerospace you really need a graduate degree to work in the field anyway, so could she still do her undergraduate in chemical engineering or should she choose a college that offers an aerospace engineering degree?

If she can handle the cold, I would go with Minnesota. Its ChemE and AE departments are both stellar. I agree with you that it would be best to major in ChemE at the undergraduate level, but I think getting a graduate degree in AE after majoring in ChemE may be a stretch. She would be better off majoring in MechE at the undergraduate level, and then getting a graduate degree in AE.

Thank you, I agree Minnesota has great programs for both, I think Minnesota & Mines are the top 2. She also got into RPI if that makes any difference.

I agree with Alexandre that Minnesota has fantastic engineering across the board, and especially in ChemE and Aero. I disagree that it would be a stretch to go from undergrad in ChemE to grad in AeroE… I think grad school admissions would be very receptive to ChemE undergrad making the switch in grad school.

Not true. Large aerospace companies hire plenty of undergrads. They also hire many Mechanical Engineering grads. You need to check if your D will have to apply to transfer from one program to another. That’s a bigger issue in CA public Us.
