In no particular order off the top of my head and I'm sure I'm forgetting a number of schools:

Schools with spectacular settings:

University of Washington (Lake Washington, Mt. Ranier, the Cascades, the Olympics, Puget Sound)

UBC (much the same as UW)

UC Santa Cruz (built in a forest where you cross ravines on the way to campus. Some dorms overlook a cliff and the Pacific)

Univ. of Colorado Boulder (Rockies, Flatirons, Italianate architecture, Boulder itself)

Vassar (the campus is an arboretum)

Swarthmore (see Vassar)

Pepperdine (Malibu)

University of the South/Sewanee (smack in the mountains)

Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak)

West Point (lovely view of the Hudson River and valley)

Virginia Tech (lots of mountains)

Northwestern (Evanston has lovely old trees, the campus has large green areas, a view of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline)

Western Washington University (Bellingham, green all around, Mt. Baker)

Most beautiful campus:

University of Virginia (Thomas Jefferson at his best, and that's pretty good)

Claremont Colleges (green spaces, varied architecture, lots of shade)

Stanford (Spanish and gorgeous)

William and Mary (Christopher Wrenn)

Sweet Briar (enormous parklike setting)

Chicago (dreary, dreary, dreary in the winter, but stunning when the sun is out)

Dartmouth (makes me want to say "boola boola" every time I'm there)

Princeton
