I'm not quite sure about the majors but I'll just give you my opinions on the two. However, I must say I'm very partial to FIT so take what i'm saying with a grain of salt. First off, FIT is in a better location since it is closer to everything in midtown. It is also a state school so it is MUCH cheaper than Parsons. Even for out of state there is no comparison. I'm not quite sure about housing at Parsons but it might be better than at FIT. The dorms at FIT are very nice (The new ones at 31st street at least) but they are hard to get into. (I just saw you're from DC. First year would be no problem for you.) But I've always heard that the off campus housing people are very helpful when looking for a place to live if you need it.

Your best bet would be to go to school in a major fashion city, such as New York or LA....even London, if you're not opposed to going overseas. You don't necessarily have to go to fashion school, as long as you're surrounded by the right kind of opportunities.

That said, both are good, but I'd choose FIT. It's cheaper, and I've always gotten the impression that Parsons is very design-oriented (FIT is more academically diverse, which could be good for you, as you want photography instead of design).
