check reddit–all of the college stereotypes and pros/cons are there
hahah, thought it was kind of funny that you added “im asian”
Unless you join a significant activity (dance team, sports team, etc.) most of your friends will be from your college - simply because that is where you will have to live. Each college offers a “core” class that doubles as the english requirement; I believe Stevenson requires two quarters of it instead of one. You will also graduate from your college instead of from the university. All of your academic affairs are handled by the advising committees of your college - so make sure you like it. I remember an unsuccessful but large campaign to get an academic advisor from nine fired because she was rude and unhelpful. If you want to be an Resident Advisor, Student Government representative, or similar academia-affiliated things you apply through or report to your college.
The campus is big, but no bigger than most of the other UCs and it offers a shuttle system designed to arrive at each bus stop every 15 minutes. There are also walking trails that deviate from the main roads; once you know them (they are hard to navigate at first) Leave for class 30 minutes ahead of time (if you live on campus) and you’ll be fine.
The closest colleges to the Science library, engineering campus, and science hill are Nine, Ten, and Kresge - but I believe most of the psychology classes are around Stevenson. There are also smaller libraries than the two main ones scattered around campus, like the Stevenson library or the anthropology library at Nine. The main libraries aren’t always the best places to study. Stevenson and Cowell are also close to the athletic facilities, if that matters to you.
