what college is the most reputable.....
please list in order from most to least
Ohio State University
James Madison
University of Buffalo
Delaware University..
thnx in advanced..........

JMU, I’ve heard a lot of good things about it and I’m not even from the east coast. The most famous one is Ohio State, but that doesnt mean it is the most reputable.

Ohio State. It’s not close, really.

Using the old 1995 NRC rankings, tOSU was #2 for most rated programs, #38 for average of nonzero scores, and #17 for average of all scores. Delaware is #60 for avg. nonzero and SUNY Buffalo appeared twice, both times below tOSU. JMU isn’t listed at all - does it have graduate programs?

USNews ranks tOSU #56. Delaware is #75 and SUNY-B is #120 JMU is #3 in its category, but Regional Universities (South) is far less competitive than the main ranking.

tOSU is #59 on the ARWU ranking. Delaware is #151-200 and SUNY-B is #201-300. JMU is unlisted.

Most other rankings will probably agree.

Please note: I’m not saying that you should attend tOSU. Prestige is not everything, and the other schools you are considering are good too. But there’s really no credible reasoning for listing any other school as “most reputable” with the exception of geographic bias.

OSU. I don’t know much about any of the others. I think I’ve heard of Buffalo before.

Ohio State is likely most “prestigious” but there are many other factors to consider, though you can’t go wrong with OSU.
For many majors, it will not effect employment.
Engineering; JMU just added it, I believe, last year, so I wouldn’t rush there for that.
Education/teaching major: Any. Whichever is lowest cost for you.
Rah Rah atmosphere- OSU

Son was accepted at Delaware and UB, among many schools for engineering and he chose UB. Loved the program up there and is very happy.

Stats? Major?

My potential major would be business administration
and my stats are an 89.8 gpa with 2 ap’s. My sats are a 1670/2400 or 1140/1600

James Madison

I live in Africa and I’ve heard of it

JMU has a 35%:65% boy:girl ratio. It’s fantastic. It’s a huge party school. There was a riot a few months ago when the police tried to shut down some parties.
There was an incident when a few guys had a party in their old apartment on the 2nd floor. So many people were up there that the floor couldnt support it and it fell through. I dont think anyone was seriously hurt…but idk.

Anyways in VA, it is considered UVA, WM, VT, then VCU/James Madison/George Mason/ etc
So yeah. In VA it’s not the most reputable.

You’re a NY resident?

Will your parents pay the out of state costs for schools like OSU, UDel, and JMU?

response to mom2collegekids…they would be willing to pay the out of state tuition…
I just wonder if it is worth it to pay the extra money for the out of state tuitions for udel, jmu, and osu…or is it a better idea to go to ubuff for a lot less money?

JMU is listed as a University-Masters, the #3 in the south at that, not a national u.

In VA, imho, the public university chain goes UVa>W&M>JMU=Tech>VCU/ODU/UMW

Also, if you’re looking for the most fun out of these, JMU wins hands down.

What’s UMW?
Your list looks good, except id say JMU=VCU (vcu gets points for arts and MCV), then ODU, GMU, CNU, etc.

JMU was like top 5 in playboys list of party schools. Actually virginia does well in those. Radford and Longwood consistently do well, and in the past few years JMU has gotten some national recognition.
