I’m choosing between UC Merced and UC Riverside for my schools.
I’m in love with Southern California, but I’m scared that I’ll be homesick since it’s hours away from home. UC Merced is a closer option, but I would want something to do in that city.
I also want to choose a school that would be better for potential pharmacists (I’ll be an undergrad). My major will be biochemistry.
Are costs comparable between the 2 schools?
Intended major at both?
Are you within commuting distance for UCM or will you also have to live in the dorms?
UCR might have more opportunities for shadowing and internships, however you have a better chance of forming professor/student relationships at UCM for those important LOR’s.
Pharmacy school will want to see that you are an exceptional student academically regardless of which school you attend. You will need to select a school where you will thrive.
Only you can decide which campus will allow you to thrive academically, socially and financially. Both are good options so go with your gut and find your best fit.
