I’ve been stressing over which one of these colleges to go to, I am a Junior level transfer student studying business marketing major and was wondering which one of these is more suitable school for me to attend. I would be commuting to both of these schools since I live in the Bay area so rent wouldn’t be a problem for me. I’m just here to ask the professionals and adults here in the bay area to give me some advice on which school is more prestigious and would help me become successful in the business field and which would lead to more opportunities in my field of studies. Please express opinions and tell me why. Thanks very much for the help much appreciated!
How far you get in business will be determined by your own drive. Both are good, respectable schools, but I don’t know anyone who considers them to be prestigious. If you like one more than the other, go to the one you like.
My wife has an undergrad economics degree from USF and an MBA from St. Mary’s.
would you say UCSB is a prestigious school?
yes UCSB way better than both those schools and cheaper. If you have the stats to get into UCSB then I recommend going there over those two schools.
UCSB does not have a “business major”, but they have Business Econ. If you are looking for good UC Business schools, then UCB/UCR and UCI all have business schools and no one can argue that UCB Haas Business is one of the best.
Prestige is in the eye of the beholder. You do not need prestige to succeed in life just as @simba9 stated. If you have the drive and an ambition, where you go for undergrad will have little bearing. What is more important is where you do Grad school (MBA) and what you do with your opportunities.
My sense is that the St. Mary’s alumni community is a little bit more active. But I don’t know many usf grads.
I actually withdrew from UCSB because I didn’t make the major cut for Economics, and I didn’t want to enroll in a different major because nothing interests me.
I would recommend USF Business, which has a good reputation among downtown SF companies.
What’s the net cost involved for each?
Where are you going to school now?
have you gotten aid pkgs yet? How much will your parents pay? None of those schools give much aid to transfers.
Do you get a Cal Grant? Because if so, you’re running out of eligible years. And Cal Grants don’t pay much for private schools…less than $10k per year.
It appears that this is your 3rd year of college. You’ve gone to CC, then a UC, then back to a CC…and you’ve had grade issues.
