Which college with a good premed program should I apply to?

Hi, I am going to be a senior and I'm trying to figure out which colleges with a good science/premed program I should apply to. My SAT score is 1930 and my weighted GPA on a 5 point scale is 4.6. I want to go to a college with a strong premed program and is in the New Englad area. What would you recommend?

What state are you in? Generally speaking, you will want to keep your debt low for your undergraduate degree as you are already going to go into plenty of debt for your Medical School training.

You can fulfill the requirements for medical school admission at almost every four-year college in the country. Every med school will require Biology, two years of Chemistry, Physics, and probably Calculus. Most will want Biochem and some higher-level Molecular Science. Your GPA is excellent, but your SAT probably isn’t quite competivite for the most selective colleges in the region. Do you want large of small? You would probably have a chance at BU, NYU, Northwestern, and George Washington, but might have a hard time with admission to their elite “3-3” combined programs (I know that BU has one, not sure about the others). I think your chances of getting into Pitt, Temple, Syracuse, and American are pretty good. What state do you live in? You undoubtedly have excellent life sciences at your flagship university (I can’t think of a major public university that isn’t very good in that area). Your stats are probably good enough to make Fordham, Villanova, and BC high-matches, but you might not get merit scholarships. If you need financial aid, you should focus on public colleges and less-selective schools where you stand an excellent chance of receiving a generous merit scholarship. It makes little sense to “frontload” a lot of debt when you have your sights on medical school. Are you male or female? Some of the traditional women’s colleges in the northeast might be good choices for you (ie. Wellesley, Smith, Mount Holyoke). I don’t know about your other qualifications, but Wesleyan is a potential reach school for you with that GPA. They are already highly selective, and will undoubtedly see a spike in applications now that they are test-optional, but if you have a terrific resume it’s worth a try. Trinity, Vassar, Bucknell, Lehigh, Clark, Wheaton, Connecticut College, Bates, Colby, Hamilton, Hobart, Colgate, Goucher . . . Is that a start?

Thank you so much for your input! I really appreciate it! I live in Newton, MA.
