help out if you know any!

all of the universities of california (UC's)

^^^^^^^ helped me tonnes, got 4 B's both semesters freshman year, then 4.0'd 10-11. :D

do all ivy leagues care? i heard princeton doesnt, idk if its true tho i got a 3.5 gpa freshman yr but 4.06 (unweighted) since this is important!

How do you get a 4.6 unweighted??

Princeton and Stanford both don't calculate freshman grades in the GPA.

Are they going to? Like in the future, when things get more competitive.

even at the schools where they do use freshman gpa, is your freshman year weighted just as much as 10th and 11th. I have a 3.7 gpa freshman year, and 4.0 10th and 11th grades.

Why do some colleges not use freshman year? 9th is a part of high school. If I won some awards in 9th grade, I'm definitely putting it down on my application. So why not same with grades?

9th grade isnt part of HS in some towns, that may be one reason

university of michigan doesn't count them

i think its like this:

they look at your average and if it isn't a 4.0, they look at where the lower marks are.

Applicant One
3 B's Freshman Year
1 B Sophomore Year
A's all the way out

Applicant Two
A's Fresh and Soph
4 B's Junior

Applicant ONe will be looked at more favorably, but alot of consideration would be put on the first semester senior grades in both situations.

Princeton and Stanford don't recalculate GPA's...

theoneo- how do you know that?

Princeton and Stanford don't recalculate GPA's...

I know Stanford does. I just read it in their website today!

I've also heard of Princeton recalculating the GPA.

A few Bs aren't going to hurt you anywhere...

And when they calculate GPAs, do colleges throw out sh$t like woodshop? Because that class tanked my GPA...

I don't think it would matter that much. Colleges like to see upward trends, that's all.

Every college has some sort of recalculation due to blown up GPA's and the rigor of courses at varying highschools. Colleges need to sort and measure everyone's GPA to a single standard.

So far:

Umich
Stanford
Princeton
UC's
