I know that most colleges defer internationals who apply for aid in the ed round of admissions. Can someone please suggest a few colleges which provide aid in the ED round?

Thanks!!

Most, if not all, colleges will give you a preliminary financial aid offer with an ED acceptance. It doesn’t matter whether you’re international or not. I think what you’re asking is for some colleges that are need-blind for internationals in their admissions decisions. Is that right? I mean, it shouldn’t matter whether it’s ED or RD, if they’re going to defer in order to make admissions decisions based on financial need, then they’re not need blind. They won’t be for ED and they won’t be for RD.

As of the last list I saw, Amherst, Dartmouth, Harvard, Middlebury, MIT, Princeton, Williams, and Yale were the only schools that guaranteed to meet 100% of need, and that were need-blind in admissions including for international students.

I believe some of them may have recently modified their positions due to economic issues, and one of the first adjustments they seem to consider is the need-blind for internationals policy. That would be something to check, but since it’s such a small number of schools to begin with, it wouldn’t be hard to verify – either through their websites or contacting the admissions offices directly.

They are, unfortunately, some of the very hardest schools to get into.

Oh,I only knew some schools like U Chicago ,Rice and Wake Forest notify that if an intl applicant needs Financial Aid,he/she should not apply for an EA or ED.

No, I am not asking which schools are need-blind. Some colleges like Pomona College specifically bar inernational students who require aid from applying ED. There are a lot of other colleges which defer international ED applicants to the RD round to select applicants from a bigger pool.

I am trying to find out which colleges have a tendency of accepting qualified internaionals seeking aid in the ED round of admissions.

Stanford and Yale in their SCEA rounds

On both the Williams and Amherst boards on College Confidential I have seen posts from international students who were accepted ED and given financial aid offers. I’m sure there are others, but not sure how you find that information collected in one place.

Dartmouth.

I think you have the general idea, the top colleges will generally wait and see their whole pool of students from your country before choosing the few they’ll accept, so they defer most qualified internationals. However, if the international is truly top–HYPS material–just about any college below those will snag someone they believe they will loose to those schools RD, international or domestic.
