Hello there! I aspire to attend a university where I can pursue my interest in Psychology. I know my resumé isn’t very impressive, but I’d really appreciate it if you would give your opinion on which colleges would be fitting for me. Thanks in advance!
Overall unweighted high school GPA: 3.98
ACT composite score: 33
I am in the top 15% of my class, ranking at 5/40.
In terms of classes, I have taken AP World History, AP Human Geo, AP Calculus AB, AP Government, AP Computer Science, AP English III, AP U.S. History, AP Psychology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus BC, AP English IV, and AP Biology (12 AP classes total).
Extracurriculars:
ALA Girls State - I ran for Governor and won
Quiz Bowl - 9th - 12th grade; in 9th and 10th grade, we were state runner-up champions
STEM Festival - I won 2nd place in Biology in 11th grade
National Honor Society - 10th - 12th grade
Student Council - 11th and 12th grade; I was class representative in 11th, and President in 12th
Volunteering - I’ve volunteered at hospitals during 10th - 12th grade, and acquired over 200 hours.
Science Olympiad - I’ve won three awards during 11th - 12th grade

National History Day - 9th, 11th, 12th; I have advanced to state competition in all three years.
With all this, which universities would best fit my interests, while also staying within my standards? I’d love to hear any and all opinions on this. Thanks again!
Hundreds and hundreds of schools would work for you. I suggest you do the following…
–Talk to your parents about how much they can spend on you college education. Also ask if they have any constraints on your college choices (ex. geography etc.)
–Think about what you want in a college to narrow down your search…size (big, small, mid-size), location (geographic as well as urban/rural/suburban), and anything else that might be important to you (ex. Greek life, big time sports, research opportunities …literally anything you care about).
– Get your hands on some good college guide books (ex. Fiske, Princeton Review, Insiders Guide) and start reading. The books may be in your guidance office, library or they are for sale.
–Visit some schools – if you are unsure as to what you want visit different types of schools to try and narrow things down.
I would apply broadly, and pick the school that gives you the most attractive aid package. Psyc isn’t a very high paying field, and you might eventually want to go to grad school.
