Which colleges should be added to CC Top Universities?

the city so 'nice' they named it twice...

Definitely Tufts.

mensa: You and I both know that that's only because Brown is better-known. I really don't think there's any significant difference in the quality of education that the two provide, based upon the few people I've met who go or went to Brown. It's just that one has the "Ivy League" label and the other doesn't.

Of course I've heard of Tufts syndrome, and it may have been true in the past, but guess what: ALL top colleges have become more selective in recent years, including Tufts. It's possible the isolated case of Tufts syndrome may occur, but it's become impossible to say that anyone is assured to get in anywhere. Also, remember that some schools like to brag about the number of valedictorians or 1600s(2400s now) that they reject.

I agree that they offer similar experiences. But I get the impression that the calibre of Tufts' student body is much more the equal of Brown than the faculty and educational resources.

True, Tufts is at a major disadvantage because it doesn't have any nobel or pulitzer prize winners on faculty. But our professors are amazingly intelligent and articulate. Plus above the intro level you'll nearly always be taught by an actual professor (don't know how it is at Brown, but I know this isn't the case in some of the other Ivies.) Tufts has very good educational resources, especially for such an under-funded school: several excellent libraries on campus and some of the best study abroad programs in the country

Brown, Dartmouth, and Princeton are the most LAC-like Ivies among the 8 schools. Very few grad students and TAs.

NYU. Cuz I said so....

UCSD and NYU !!!!!

well, i like the list how it is right now in terms of CC TOP universities (plus or minus a college or two), but there are some heavily-mentioned colleges that aren't on there. if it was a CC Most Popular Universities, then yeah there definitely needs to be tufts, usc, ucsd, and nyu, cuz those get mentioned a lot.

OMG... this is getting contagious thanks to the USC board...

correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe this started with a Tufts thread (by a parent in the parents forum), and then a similar USC thread came along (in the USC forum).

sorry to disappoint some of you but nyu is definitely NOT the next university that needs to be added <see threads="" on="" most="" overrated="" school=""></see>

syracuse

now shutup.

I think just out of personal experience, UCSD should be on a list. It's clearly a top UC, and has many top 10 departments (more than UCLA, if I'm not mistaken.)

Tufts, like everyone's said, and Brandeis definitely.

This is a great question! I think UW-Madison deserves the spot but hey, I go to a school where everyone loves the school. We would be a feeder school but most kids don't have the grades to get in. Still it deserves a top spot. Well at least more so than NYU and USC. (At least in my opinion) Also, I don't like UCSD much because they only accept 3% of their people from out of state.

Oh and guys, it is called the "Top University" thread. LAC's are colleges and not universities. Willams, Amherst and Tufts are LAC's not universities and don't fit in this catagory. If it was "Top Colleges and Universities" they would fit.

Sharkbite...wrong...Tufts is a university.

BU (10 characters)

uh, nyu...duh

no really

Ahh, mental lapse for a minute. Sorry. Yeah Tufts should be there.

(Dang I thought I had stumbled on this great point that everyone missed too!)

Tufts and Brandeis

IIT??? it most certainly isnt. Its is a geat tech place, but it lacks EVERYTHING else... thats why it doesnt figure
