which colleges should I apply to and what are my chances?

Hi I am 17 years old and currently in 11th grade (CBSE)board I scored a 2100 in my sat and a perfect ACT
E.c - I have made 2 android apps and several websites.
I am part of the math club and computer club.
Do I need more e.c’s?

What are your grades? How do you compare to top students in your school/country? What would you want to study? Do you want a large university or a smaller liberal arts college (LAC) Do you want to live in/near a city or urban area – or in more of a quiet country setting?

And the biggest question of all: how much can you afford to pay?

Wow, nice ACT score. Don’t even bother sending the SAT, just take the subject tests and you will have the standardized testing aspect set. More ECs could never hurt, but the ones you have now are pretty impressive by themselves. At this point, I would focus on maintaining your grades at school and working on your essays. Like @katliamom‌ which colleges you should apply to depends on a lot of different factors.

Assuming your career plans are in line with your ECs, you sound like you would be a good fit for engineering colleges like CalTech, MIT and Olin. I’m no expert, but I believe Stanford, Carnegie Mellon and UIUC also have great computer science/engineering programs.

UIUC is good but the question is: can he pay?

UIUC is a pubic university VERY UNLIKELY to offer financial aid to an international student. If money is an issue, OP should look at privates and the very few schools that have financial aid to internationals (for example, University of Alabama)

Or Howard University.
There are some decent schools that would offer good merit scholarships to international kids as well.

Yeah I can afford all these universities.
Money is not a problem.

Thanks for the reply guys.
Are my e.c’s enough to get me into a good college like Carnegie,Michigan, ucla etc.

I scored about 90% in my exams. I that good?

Yeah I can afford all these universities.

I just want to get into a good university,I don’t care about the area.

If money is not a problem, then GREAT! There are many very, very good schools that would love to have you.

2100 SAT is a little low for schools like Cal Tech or MIT – and they’re difficult to get into for everyone; plus the most selective schools also want you to take SATII exams, too. If you’re serious about applying to top schools, focus on test preparation rather than adding more ECs. Tell us more about what you want to study, and where/what kind of school. You might want to try the search engine on this site, or on collegeboard.com or princetonreview.com to find some preliminary matches. It’s advised that all students apply to 3 kinds of schools: “safeties” – where your stats put you in the highest range of the average incoming freshmen; “matches” – where your stats are similar to those of the averages of incoming freshmen; and “reaches” – the very top, elite schools (Ivy League, MIT, Stanford, etc.)

Whats is wrong with perfect ACT, Why SAT has any use? You need some 800 SATIIs especially in Math and Physics.

For CS paying full freight, you should try CMU, MIT, CalTech, Stanford , Berkeley, Cornell and some Ivies. Cooper Union, which is cheaper.

I’d like to study computer science or anything related to computers. I also have a bunch of certificates from udemy for course completion.

@katliamom‌ could you name some of those universities which I could safely get into. Thanks.

What is your major? Some schools offer major-specific scholarship.

I know you said you can afford them, but just in case you are interested…
RELATIVELY easy ones.

University of Alabama: You are eligible for Full tuition. You need 3.5 GPA, which you are likely to have. Also if you are an engineer major, you will get extra 1250/semester. Also, apply for emerging scholar program. (super easy only if you apply in time AND have scores/gpa)
Howard University: If your school grade equates to 3.8 unweighted, you can get full ride. However, it may not be a good fit for you, sine it’s historically black college/university.(Apply as soon as application opens)
Louisiana State U: at least 1480 SAT or 34 ACT. However it’s a minimum requirement. You may need to write essays.
Fordham University: Full tuition. Students who get this awards are like top 5% at least.
go to http://216.230.117.32/section6/section79/index.html for fordham University merit scholarship.

Competitive ones:
UNC Chapel Hill: Robertson scholarship. VERY VERY competitive.
U of Richmond: Bonner Scholarship.
Lewis and Clark: Barbara Hirschi Neely scholarship.
Clark University: LEEP scholarship
University of South California: http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/docs/uscScholarships1516.pdf
These are quite competitive, but I know one Int. student girl who got full merit ride.

Mix of need+merit
Kenyon College
Macalester College(Note: only merit scholarship available for int students are Charles J. Turck Presidential Honor Scholarships. Other than that, all FA for int kids are based on need)
Mount Holyoke, if you are a female.
These three are quite competitive, but offers quite generous amount of aid once you get in.

Can i get into uiuc for computer science

I am looking for schools in the top 10 list for cs.

Wait a minute. . . . ., you don’t care about the area???
Do you have internet so that you can see the weather images in the US?

Harvard, BU, MIT, and the northeast in general have been blanketed by snow for the past two months. Weather can impact your studies if you are not used to the patterns and below freezing temperatures with wind chill.

You are not affected by where the locale of the school is?

I live in India we have all kinds of weather in india. Weather won’t affect my studies.
