Which Colleges Should I Look At? (3.5 unweighted)

Hi everyone, I’m starting to look at more colleges (I’m a junior) and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which schools to look at, it would be really appreciated!
My stats:
3.5 unweighted gpa-pretty average
4.2 weighted gpa

34 on act
(I took the psat but haven’t gotten my results back yet)

My extracurriculars:
piano for 11 years (competitions, etc.)
flute for 7 years (play in band at school and at my church)
volunteer with the Sunday school at church
girl scouts (silver and gold award)
varsity math team
golf team and a summer league
band leadership
tri-m (music honor society)
Spanish club
founder and leader of the board game club at my school
summer work experience

I also know that this matters more to some admission counselors than others, but I am a first-generation college student (F-white).

I am looking at studying computer science, business, or pre-law. (I do still have some time to figure this out but if there are any good schools in these fields, I would love to know!)

I would prefer a school near or in a large city.

(a note since I’ve seen other people talk about money: I know that I will need to be about $30,000 or less -hopefully the latter- after aid from the school itself.)

What state do you live in?

@Momofmanytoo I would prefer not to say exactly, but I am from the midwest.

I was also wondering what state you live in. The reason is that your in-state public universities are probably the first place to look.

I also don’t understand the comment “I know that I will need to be about $30,000 or less”. Does this mean that you can afford to spend a maximum of $30,000 per year as the total cost of attending university?

With these stats, you should be a direct admit to Kelley School of Business at IU. They use weighted GPAs. That is a huge advantage at a great school. I would put it on your list, if you are thinking business. Given that you are in the midwest, that is probably the best option if you want to stay within driving distance of home.

Edited to add: I would also consider Miami of Ohio. Your test scores qualify you for great aid at this school. It would be perfect for your major considerations, as well.

Also, Arizona State in Tempe and University of Alabama have great merit options for you.

@DadTwoGirls I have already checked my public in-state schools and only liked one of them. And yes, around $30,000 per year as the total of attending.
