Which colleges within WUSTL are the easiest and hardest to get into?

I’m not quite sure if WUSTL accepts students through a specific college, but, from what I’ve seen on the results threads, that’s what it looks like. Which colleges have the highest and lowest acceptance rates?

If they do admit by college then internal transfer would be VERY difficult.

You can apply to Arts & Sciences (general), Engineering, Art & Design (BFA or Architecture), or Business. It doesn’t really matter what the relative acceptance rates are, b/c the programs are not interchangeable. WUSTL is a fine school, but it’s not so magic that you would choose which of those you would apply to just so that you would have a diploma that said “WUSTL”.

@TomSrOfBoston Actually internal transfer in WUSTL is quite easy. I have a lot of friends who go there currently and they said that it’s pretty easy to change schools and that it should not be a worry.

In that case they do not admit by school.

@TomSrOfBoston They DO admit by school but transferring between schools is very easy.

@RaVNzCRoFT I would really like to apply here but I don’t think I will be able to visit the school. How are the campus and the students?

@ap012199 They’re both great! The campus is beautiful and everybody is extremely nice. Wash U has a very collaborative environment where the students are all willing to work together and help each other out, rather than compete with one another.

For what it’s worth, I got into Wash U without first visiting the campus or doing an interview.

@RaVNzCRoFT cool! If you don’t mind me asking… What were your objective stats?

@ap012199 Oh man, it’s been a while…I had to do some digging.

GPA: 4.23 W (private school, ~125 in my class – I was in the top 20%, that’s all they reported for class rank)
SAT: 2200 (800 math, 680 reading, 720 writing) – is the SAT even in this format anymore? lol
ACT: 30

Was there some other info or stats you wanted? Sorry, I’ve kind of forgotten how this goes.

I was in the school of Engineering btw, I got my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2014.

@RaVNzCRoFT ok cool. You applied RD right?

@ap012199 Yep.

@ap012199 be cautious about assuming that it is easy to transfer between schools at WUSTL. @RaVNzCRoFT is correct that the transfer process is straight forward- but you have to have departmental approval, which includes showing that you will be able to complete the new school’s requirements within your original 4 years. Depending on the school, and how far along you are, that is not necessarily easy. Trying to game the system, by applying to a school in which you have no real interest just b/c their acceptance rate is higher could end badly in a lot of ways.

@collegemom3717 I wasn’t planning tondo that. I was just wondering what CAS’s acceptance rate is because that’s the college would be applying to.

@ap012199 I could be wrong, but I don’t think they release acceptance rates for the colleges on an individual basis.

My apologies, @ap012199 - I mistook what you meant by “Which colleges have the highest and lowest acceptance rates?” and didn’t realize that you meant “what is the acceptance rate for CAS”.

@collegemom3717 lol sorry I should’ve stated it that way.
