Hey everyone. I'm having trouble thinking of safety colleges that I can apply to, probably because I don't know of any... My SAT score is 2310, (2360 superscored), my GPA is 4.4 weighted and 3.9 unweighted, I don't have any preference in terms of location, but I wouldn't like to be somewhere disconnected from the world, so not too rural, and my interest in majors lies in biotechnology/biomedical engineering (whichever is offered) and perhaps a minor in international relations (though this would be just for my own interest and is definitely not a determining factor). In terms of financial aid, I am covered, so expenses won't be an issue.

I would really appreciate it if anybody could offer me any insights into selecting the right safety universities for me. I've already completed my application list (Harvard, Stanford, Brown, Cornell, UPenn, Northwestern, JHU, Duke, and all UCs), and as you may notice, I am completely lacking colleges with high acceptance rates.

Thank you in advance to anybody with a constructive response :)

Assuming you live in California (which I am because you're applying to all of the UCs), the majority of the UCs will be probably safeties for you. I would say guaranteed at UCSD, UCSB and UCD, and probably in at UCLA and Cal as well. However, if you can't see yourself at UCSB or UCSC, then you might want to find other safeties at which you'd be happier, or even more matches. I mean, even though you have fantastic shots at Northwestern, JHU, and Duke, they're all extremely selective and anything could happen. What about USC (as a safety, not match)? I'm sure you'd get in there and probably get a ton of merit aid as well.

@lolz........
hey i think u r a man with really high SAT scores and good GPA.as far i think if ur personal essay are outstanding then u wud surely get into your desired colleges.but if u really want to go for top tier colleges in engineering and if u r a native of USA (pereferably iowa, or california or texas) then opt for Univ of texas,austin,Univ of california,Berkely or Purdue school of engineering,Iowa or Brigham Young University,Utah.
If not then there are always liberal arts colleges for you as safety.I consider Connecticut college,Lafayette college,Dickinson college as your safety ones.
Gud luck

If you're a CA resident, most UCs are safety. UCSD is a particularly attractive safety, since it does have an excellent academic reputation as well (oh...kind of, I mean). Plus it's in San Diego (fine, La Jolla, but same thing).

Look at American University. It doesn't look like you have any other DC schools on your list, but it's a good school and you can't been Washington DC as a college town.
