I just want to get an a idea the CSUs with the best business programs for undergrads. If you can could you rank them them in order from best to not the best?
I think all 23 CSUs offer a Biz degree of one sort or another.
All of them offer accredited programs and decent credibility, especially locally.
“best” is pretty subjective and, again you can get good education at all of them…
I’d rank the top 5 biz programs as
CPSLO
SDSU
CSULB
CSU Chico
Fullerton
Those campuses can be selective so, if you don’t have the stats, Northridge, Sac, SF, SJ and Fresno are among the others that are worth a look.
@NCalRent Isn’t SJSU top 3 in biz?
well, as i said above, ‘best’ is really subjective. everyone has a different top 5 list.
IMHO SJSU has a good program and is in a good location for internships, etc. From an education perspective I would say it is on par with Sac, SF and Fresno but, not quite up to the top 5 I listed. From a selectivity perspective, it is certainly an easier admit than the 5 listed above. Of course, that’s just one aspect of ‘better’. Also just one man’s opinion SJ is an AWFUL place to live due to expense, traffic, congestion, etc. (I was just there on a biz trip and it took me 40 minutes to drive the 9 miles from our office to a dinner, that is pretty typical of my experience). Of course, there are a few million people who disagree with me on that point.
As i also said above, you can get a solid business education at any CSU that offers a program. So, if you want to be a Spartan, and get in… go for it. There are lots of reasons it may be the best choice for you. Please follow your heart, not mine.
Good luck.
If an MBA is the ultimate goal of an undergrad Business degree, check with the grad school programs. See where the students come from. It might help narrow the field or demonstrate that there are LOTS of options.
Would san jose st be considered a better business school than long beach?
IMHO, no - but, that doesn’t make it bad or, the wrong choice for you. You certainly wouldn’t spend your career apologizing for or hiding the fact your Biz degree is from SJSU. Of course, it is only an issue if you get into both.
I’d add, if you spend your life chasing what other people think is best, you will have a pretty miserable existence. Best on somebody’s abstract list is rarely the best fit for you.
What are your stats and what’s your situation?
@NCalRent I got into both for finance
Congrats!
You should feel confident that there’s no wrong decision from an academic/reputation perspective. Choose the one where you think you will excel. Spend some time on both campuses, talk to existing students, maybe even sit in on a class or two - then pick the place that feels like home.
