which did you find easier: chem or physics?

both sciences are concept based its just that has less math involved. I'd say Chem is easier.

I took chemistry and physics at the same time last year, and chemistry was infinitely easier... by virtue of the teacher. As far as concepts go, physics was easier to grasp than chemistry. I found I could see physical processes, rather than merely the effects of the processes, like in chemistry.

On the other hand, the chemistry teacher didn't really teach us much. The physics teacher actually made an effort. At my school, chemistry is a class that any ol' dummy can feel safe about taking; physics is considered to be a "smart kid" class.

Physics is super easy (for me).

Chemistry takes more effort.

Chemistry is easier hands down, and it is actually more interesting than physics.

Chem is much easier

i dont really see what some of you mean by grasping the concepts of chem. I'm in chem right now and there's not much to grasp...it's math and memorization.

I haven't taken physics yet..so I can't comment on which is the easier class, but I LOVE both the concepts of physics and chem. They just seem to make sense intuitively, which is fun. Although my chem. class was disappointing--mostly memorisation.

I hate Honors Physics with a passion, but I am taking AP Physics (B, i.e). Can't wait until this year is over and physics is gone from the rest of my high school life ( which is not long since I am a Junior)

Chemistry was much easier, even with a teacher who was harder than the AP Chem teacher

At the AP high school level, chem may seem easier but once you progress to o-chem and complex multiple step reactions based problems, you'll be banging your head against a wall.

but in this case, chem may be easier for you.

In my sophomore year I had to choose between chem and physics... I went for chem because I fear math. There was still way too much math involved for my taste, but definitely not on the level of what I saw my friends in physics struggling with. Ultimately I think that if math's not your thing, chem is the way to go.

I haven't taken AP Chem or AP Physics, but I know at least at my school AP Chem is considered much harder.

lol this thread is funny...i didnt like chemistry so much because it just bored me, i ended up with a B+...my friends take physics now and only 3 out of 120 students got an A and a lot of kids failed...physics is just like another math class so if your good in math then you should take it...for me id rather take physics then chem but i guess it depends on what your comfortable with

Thanks everyone for opinions. So it seems as though the general consensus is that chem is a bit easier?

i've only taken chem but chem is pretty easy:D

Well, I haven't taken Physics at all, but I have taken Chem and Bio. In 8th grade, I recieved a 89 as a final grade, the lowest on my high school transcript. However, in my first year of Chem, I recieved a 100 as a final grade and even got a 100 on the standardized New York test (the Regents). In AP Chem now, I've recieved a 97 as my first semester grade.

On the whole, I think I've seen people complain more about Physics than about Chem. Also, I';ve heard that Physics required a Calc background (Pre-Calc at th least). Not to belittle your potential, but I doubt that a sophmore would have taken pre-calc. Heck, at my school the average senior takes Pre-calc for math.

actually at my school honors physics is based on algebra and you take it concurrently with precalc.

Nope, I havn't taken pre-calc yet. At my school the only requirement to get into it is that you have to have completed algebra 1. thats the same with chem at my school.

Physics is only harder if you compare the olympiads

c'mon, throw some potassium into cold water and watch what happens! ;)

In my school AP Physics is the hardest class..AP Chem is considered really easy. I still prefer Physics though, and I don't like math

Physics at the honor level is easier than Chem. I never did the physics homework and copied the ones she did collect ended up with a 98-100 range all year. In Chem I worked more, but never studied and I still ended with a 100 all year. However, AP Physics is pretty tough and I honestly don't get half the homework, still have a 96 though. AP Chem is a joke. She assigns many problems, but I find it as easy as Honors Chem to get an A in there. The problem is labs in AP Chem.
