Chemistry or Physics

Ok, so I'm planning my sophomore schedule. I have taken Honors Chemistry (actually, i'm taking it right now) and I am absolutely dreading it. The entire year I've gotten a B average. Should I take Physics B soph. and Physics C Junior year? If so, idk what to take Senior year. I signed up for chem (it can change) because I am taking hon. chem atm and I heard AP Chem is alot easier if you've taken honors chem. I'm so confused.

Want to be Comp. Eng. Major btw.

If Honors Chem is killing you, you’re going to have a problem AP Chem. At our school, regular/honors chemistry is basically a joke (this is actually the first year they have offered it). Getting a solid A is a walk in the park. In AP Chem, our last test average was slightly under 50% … there’s no curve and tests are weighted at 80% of the overall grade. So yeah, nice little contrast there.

I must say that our AP Chemistry class is known for its difficulty, though. At some schools it’s probably different. We have a pretty good percentage of people who get 5s.

I’m doing Physics. My school is stupid as **** anyways. They screwed with the AP Physics B course so unless I do it next year, it basically will ruin HS science for me.

AP Chemistry is notorious at a lot of schools - at my school, its a double block of holy heck for the kids in it, and although some excel - most struggle. With test corrections, extra credit, make ups, the whole shebang, kids still struggle to pull of low C’s.

I honestly hate physics so much, so if I were you, I would opt for AP Chem.
The counterargument at my school is that even though AP Phys is difficult and you probably won’t get a 5 on the exam, let alone pass (because of our extremely inefficient teacher), the class itself is a joke and most classes are spent watching movies on irrelevant topics and doing weird labs.
Our school’s AP Chem class is much more rigorous but is also taught by a very good teacher who is also caring towards his students.
You could ask upperclassmen how they felt the classes have been and compare their views.
