Hi, I am going to be attending Williams, so I'm wondering which dorms have doubles? I definitely need a roomate so which dorm should I avoid (the singles)?

If you want a double, you shouldn’t have a problem getting into one. Most people want singles (at least, most upperclassmen).

For first-year housing, Frosh Quad is has ~300 beds: half in doubles, half in singles. Mission has 8 doubles and ~275 singles. (These numbers are including 52 JAs, all of whom live in singles).

For upperclassman housing, there is a handy packet available around room draw listing where the doubles are (something to worry about later c;)

So, in simplest terms, ask for Frosh Quad over Mission.

I remember that you couldn’t “ask for” a specific dorm over the other, but you can definitely ask for a double over a single (and you’ll probably get one). I think some people but down a dorm in the comments section, but that’s not always honored.

Okay, it looks like I’ll need to ask for FroshQuad. Thanks. I really really hope I don’t get a single.

Singles are in higher demand, not doubles. You’ll have no problems.

DMOC, why do you need a double? I ask that because most roommates don’t expect to be needed - are you sure that what you need is in a roommate, and not a JA?

I am hearing impaired so I need a roomate to let me know if there’s an emergency, etc. if I’m not wearing hearing aids. Imagine what would happen if I needed to dry them out and I had my single room locked. :(

A roommate won’t always be in the room though. Perhaps facilities could provide you with a visual alert system?

^I’ve got that stuff all covered up. Roomates are an extra safety blanket.
