<p>Hi , I am an international student who will be applying to US Universities next fall. I live in a small suburban area , and my school is also not very famous and has very limited sources.I am also the valedictorian of my class. I want to Major in Computer Science . So , Which Ec's should I mention to boost up my chances? My EC's are -
1- Designed School and Club Website.
2- Programmer in JAVA , mySQL , Visual Basic and some C++.
3- Work Experience , started a work of my own to repair computers and mobiles.
4- I am also a tutor , teach Computer and other subjects to children.
5- 8 years in Drama.
6 - Varsity Basketball.
7- Captain of my School Government(1 year)
8- 4 years in Tech Club(Also President)</p>
<p>The one most important to you and/or most impactfull. Frankly, if you are asking this question you probably do not have any ECs that will have a large positive impact on your resume. An EC that stands out would be a big part of your life and an obvious choice.</p>
<p>Well you have 10 slots and 8 activities. Why not mention them all?</p>
<p>ECs usually just show that you have a life outside of school and that you have something to offer the campus community. Pick the 3-4 that matter to you. The rest is just noise. You can mention them or not but it isn’t going to get you in or keep you out. (ECs that make a difference are the ones that are so exceptional or unique or are done at such a high level - nationally ranked for example - that they differentiate you from the pool. ECs like your are just proof of a life that extends beyond school.)</p>
<p>For example, if you’ve done drama for 8 years, that sounds like it might matter to you. And if you’ve been part of the tech club for 4 years and are now leading it, that sounds like it matters to you too. Tutoring, varsity basketball, student govt - fine. One line is all they deserve.</p>
