I just want to know essay I should put more emphasis on in my application for a transfer. The Commonapp is basically "why do you want to transfer," while the supplement is "why do you want to go XYZ." Which essay do the universities regard as more important in the decision process?

I can't really comment on which is more important, but in the case of the supplemental essay that asks "why do you want to go XYZ", you have the opportunity to demonstrate what you know about the college and how it's the right fit for you.

I put a lot of effort into the commonapp essay. The supplemental essay for my top choice also recieved a lot of effort. However, for my other supplemental essays, I believe that I became lazy and that they were subpar.

Like I said, I can't comment on which universities think is more important, but as long as you write high quality essays for both, then what does it matter?

as coldrising said, just try to make both of them amazing. also in your "why do uou want to go to xyz" essay make sure that you demonstrate that you have done the proper research to show that the school is truly a match for you

According to Common App, both essays are equally important in that they are factors for the admissions committee to extrapolate an image of who you are from either/both essays. Therefore I would spend an equal amount of time on both essays.
