Which Food Plan??

Hey I just committed to SDSU for the fall and I have no idea which food plan to get. I do not want one of the plans that forces you to eat at the same time every day, I also don't want a meal plan that gives you to much food, but then again not to little.

If you get the meal plan that says 2 meals per day does that mean you must get a meal? Or do they give you an alloted amount of money that you could use say at one of the stores and snacks or something?

So I guess just in general I want to know which food plans people have had or know of that were a good choice and expand on how you can use the meal plans. Thanks!

I had the flex 7 when I was at SDSU. I got no meal allowances. I got $18 per day to use and $12 on the weekends. With the meals, you have to use them at the dinning hall. I still ate at the dinning hall several times a week, but I also had the flexibility of using that money at other places like starbucks, juiceitup, panda, ect.

Is there a place where you can use that money to buy like fruits and healthier foods on campus. Like at the market stores on campus or something?

Yes. That money is good for anything that is owned and ran by dinning service. Which is everything but those little coffee stands around campus. But you can use it at the starbucks one campus. There are a few markets and eateries on campus too. Where as if you got the one with just meals…you could only use it at the dinning hall and use your own money for the other stuff around campus.

The markets do have healthy food but not an abundance of them. They do have fruit but not a wide variety. mostly just apples, oranges and bananas.

Okay! Thanks so much!
