I'm starting out at a cc and plan to major in Civil Engineering.I'm wondering which foreign language would be more beneficial to take between "French or German" and stating why would helpful.

Definitely French. If you ever wanted to do international work, your firm could put you forward for work in Francophone Africa. Spanish would be similarly useful for Latin American projects.

Yes I would love to do International work but as you stated Africa, which I’m stuck on which language to take based on country. I have interest in all three languages which make it difficult to decide.

Both Spanish or French would work for you. German would have been good 20 years ago, after unification, but no longer.

I agree. German isn’t as widespread. While there are slightly different dialects throughout the world, Spanish covers a big chunk of Europe and a lot of Central to South America.

French, IMO, would be as equally beneficial since it is also a predominant language in EU, it is one of the more common Official Languages of the UN, and more parts of Africa speak French rather than Spanish (or German) from the imperialistic days.

French>Spanish>German

French and Spanish as a coinflip. Arabic or Chinese? Gold.
