Which is better: CMU or Vassar

Please try to answer in a purely objective manner. Vassar is ranked 11 by US news for liberal arts while CMU is ranked 22 for national universities. Also, Forbes ranks vassar as 19 and cmu and 200 something, which sounds terribly off.

Its kind of like apples and oranges. Vassar is largely a lib arts school, while CMU is engineering. If you want to major in the sciences/engineering I would pick CMU. Otherwise I would choose Vassar.

I think at Vassar you can get an engineering degree through Dartmouth. Dartmouth is Ivy League, but CMU is still ranked higher in terms of engineering.

Also the Academic Ranking of World Universities ([Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)](http://www.arwu.org)) ranks CMU as 59 and Vassar/Dartmouth as post 100.

For business, engineering and sciences CMU .

But you need to reflect: why do you want to only rely on rankings. Four years of college life is far more important than only banking on rankings to make a decision.

CMU does provide a very good education experience and Pittsburgh is ranked as one of the most livable cities.

A bit stale article but you may wish to read it:
