Ok, so what I'm asking here is, should I take as many classes as I can? I'm currently taking all the Honors classes I possibly can and plan on doing all the APs offered(except maybe Spanish). But will taking more electives like Law, Psychology, etc... classes that are only on a 4.0 scale, 4.5 for Honors or 5.0 for AP and not taking more art or gym to keep my W GPA high.

It would be nice to be able to boost my UW GPA, but my W GPA would suffer and rank would suffer too. And I'm not sure if my school even ranks. They don't tell us our ranks, but someone told me that the keep them on file and send them to the colleges.

I'd like to take more classes just because I'm interested in them, but not if it will hurt me.

Since W GPA are different all over, like mine are 4 reg, 5 honors, 6 ap it is hard for them to standardize such differences. I believe they use your weighted GPA to look at your class rank and see how you compare to others at your school. Otherwise i think unweighted GPA is what they look at since thats what i usually see on the colleges statistics

Colleges vary as to what they do -- some consider weighted GPA, some ignore GPA and consider only class rank, some redo your GPA using their own weighting sytem, some use only unweighted GPA but have a favorable factor for course difficulty (honors and AP). Note also that many consider only grades in college prep courses -- English, math, lab science, language and social studies -- and ignore all others.
